What is keratosis Pilaris?

KPs are small rough, and sometimes red raised bumps usually found usually on the upper arms, less commonly on buttocks and thighs, and rarely on face. It looks like “heat rash” that is persistent. It is sometimes confused with acne .

What are the symptoms of KP?

Most patient do not experience any symptoms but the appearance of KP is often psychologically stressful for adolescents and adults. Most of the individuals with KP do not like the cosmetic look of the skin affected with KP.

Who is at risk of having KPs?

Keratosis pilaris may occur at any age but is most common in young children and increases with a peak of symptoms during adolescence and, in general, improves afterwards.

What is the treatment for KP?

KPs may resolve on its own as patients age. If our patient desire treatment then there are a few different topical options that improves the appearance of these bumps.
